October 19, 2026

A man was killed and six other people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Brawley and Jensen avenues in Fresno County on Saturday afternoon, October 17, 2026, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported at approximately 4:20 p.m. in an unincorporated area of Fresno County. Emergency crews responded to the scene, where they found extensive damage to all three vehicles involved. The male passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene, and six others were transported to a local hospital with injuries described as moderate to major.

According to CHP Sergeant Adrian Lopez, a gray Ford Fusion was traveling south on Brawley Avenue while a Volkswagen sedan was heading west and a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling east on Jensen Avenue. Brawley Avenue has a stop sign at the intersection, while Jensen Avenue does not. The Volkswagen struck the driver's side of the Ford Fusion, and the F-150 then struck the Fusion's passenger side. The male passenger in the Ford Fusion was killed in the collision. Six other people, including the drivers of all three vehicles and three passengers, were taken to a hospital with injuries ranging from moderate to major, according to the CHP.

The identity of the man killed in the crash has not been released by authorities. The CHP stated that officers do not suspect alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision. The CHP has not disclosed whether the Ford Fusion stopped at the stop sign before entering the intersection, how fast the other two vehicles were traveling, or the names and conditions of the six injured individuals. The investigation into the cause and circumstances of the Fresno County crash at Brawley and Jensen avenues remains active and ongoing.

The fatal collision at Brawley and Jensen avenues underscores the continued dangers facing motorists at rural intersections throughout Fresno County. Intersection crashes remain among the most common types of traffic collisions in the Central Valley, particularly at locations where stop signs control traffic on only one approach. Fresno County's unincorporated rural roads have accounted for a disproportionate share of traffic fatalities in recent years. Motorists are reminded to exercise caution at all intersections, come to a complete stop at stop signs, and verify that the roadway is clear before proceeding. Anyone who witnessed the crash is encouraged to contact the CHP Fresno Area office.
